Her Smile

by Raychil   May 10, 2007

While she walks down the halls
Something just feels wrong
My once invincible friend
Just is not as strong

Judgmental eyes loom over her
She looks like she doesn't care
But I can see it in her eyes
That she needs someone there

She smiles at our schoolmates
But her eyes are far away
The look of something hidden
Is with her everyday

Even in the crowded school
She still feels alone
There is no escape for her
Not even her own home

I try to be a comfort
But I can't take away the pain
And I know that her shinning smile
Simply is not the same

But still when she walks by
I try to find that smile
And maybe just this once
It will last a while

She doesn't deserve what she's been given
She shouldn't have to hide
She shouldn't have to keep herself
Locked away inside

So much stress still plagues her mind
Emptiness is growing
Her body can't take much more
But she just keeps on going

Still I wait by her side
Doing all I can
Being someone to make her smile
Until they understand.

*To my friend*
