The Teacher

by Rhiannon   May 30, 2007

He stands before a classroom
of fresh and eager souls
watching him...
Waiting to absorb whatever it is he tells them.
The teacher was placed in front of
the 'students'
to reduce them.

I have been reduced to a number.
It's my school identification number.
I use it,
everyday. I use it.
If I want to eat, I must remind myself
I am less then human.
I am only that number.

I will go home,
burn a cigarette and mourn
the loss of humanity.
I will go home,
and return to my element.
I will dream.
