A Blessed Being

by Iola   Jun 3, 2007

Early pain I thank You for
It made me the survivor I am today
Inserted in me a heart that always wants more
Desires that help me keep astray

Thank you for sunsets, my Lord of Art
How you move my soul in unspoken ways
The angels you send when we feel so far apart
Hot soup and warm bread on rainy days

Parents who are wise guardians in their own special time
The gift of a rented live close to London Bridge
Untouched by Black Death and cruel crackling crime
The further I move from Your core the more you teach

The beauty of each flower that You designed with care
All those gifts that You bestow in my life
Whilst the poor cry with sorrow in pain and despair
I'm living the life of a rich and caring man's wife

Sickness has forsaken me because of Your Grace
And a strong body carries me through each day
Protecting me from discrimination because of my race
And directing evil vultures far from my way

The blankets of love and admiration that covers my skin
Fall from the heavens onto my vulnerable soul
Your gentle reminders of "without reflects what's within"
Make me sigh with relief at the hope of becoming whole

Holding my hand when I scream and rage in despair
Burning fires beside the road a promise of your burning love
That amazing butterfly a kiss from Someone who cares
When I glare through my tears to the clouds above

Friends who love me unconditionally and true
Respecting my distance and soul-searching isolation
Interesting careers lying ahead and behind what I do
Fruitful creativeness provide me with immense stimulation

You give me cool when its warmth I bleed
And tender loving care when I'm out of line
You look past my hungry heart and all my greed
Wiping my mud off and helping me to shine

I'm grateful my Creator for You've created my breath
Your watchful eye bestows me with surprises and presents
Oh how you show me the treasures hidden underneath all my mess
I praise your existence and forceful light that shines through the universe and its heaven!

Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
