Handcuffs

by The Even Numbered Nephew   Jun 21, 2007

I'd arrest you if I had handcuffs.
I'd arrest you if I had the time.
I'd expose you and all of your bluffs,
but you're too clever with your crimes.

I'd unveil you for what you are,
if I could uncover your true self.
I'd accuse you of going to far,
but my judgment is stuck on a shelf.

It's my conscience that you've torn apart.
It's my logic that you have destroyed.
You taken away the beating of my heart-
an item that I used to enjoy.

You've taken away my hopes and dreams.
You have taken away everything.
It seems that nothing is what it seems,
Except for your emotionless sting.

My body is splintered and broken.
My corpse is all that you've left behind.
You haven't even left a token;
not a scrap or clue for me to find.

I'd arrest you if I had handcuffs.
I'd arrest you if I had a dime.
I would say that enough is enough,
And say that you should pay for your crimes.

-My thanks to the band Brand New. They were the ones who inspired me to write this (the first two lines are from their song "Handcuffs"
