if they only knew
all the pain they put me through

my parents know so little
I try so hard to keep it that way
it keeps me feeling independent and free
but also distant and not understood
which is some thing no one wants to be

they would look up to me

what i haven't and do not do
even with all the crap they put me through

they would be proud of what I've done
and who I've become
...
