Sometimes (A Memory)

by Viola   Aug 12, 2007

Sometimes just a simple smell
Lingering around
Provokes the awakening
Of those memories
That I neatly folded
And put away

Sometimes just a simple song
Playing on the radio
Reminds me of your voice
And the closed wound
Starts to break open
At the edges

Sometimes just an old photograph
Hidden behind those books
Triggers in my mind
A time when we were together
And again the memories
Rush back

Sometimes it's just a place
And others just a thought
That suddenly reminds me
Of you
But the memories
They take hold
And they draw a tear
That I promised
To never cry again

I know how this feels. I'm always trying to tell myself I won't cry a little bit anymore. I don't anymore now though. but before >_> it's nice the way you wrote about the little things that trigger huge emotions of loneliness and heartbreak. I can get that pretty easy too. even now.. but this poem was really nice. good stuff. =)
