Mother

Fiercely
Fiercely
The crumbling Earth Cried
For rain
For Mercy
For Night
Dust is her skirt
Around Man she may rise
As Feet feet
Pass the Mother
trampling her beneath soles
Of lost Souls
And sky
She cried for salvation
for clenched thirst
For She had once thrived in Beauty
Moist plants touching clouds
She thrived Once in water
Prospered, Proud
She thrived at the beginning
Of mankind's footfall
And Then at End
Drought and poison by man's hand
Proved too much

Fiercely Fiercely
The Dying Earth cries
The Mother who grew the Child Man
Crumbled at her children's touch
