Begging For Ease

by ChrisT   Aug 22, 2007

When you see branches swaying
Listen hard, because I'm praying
For you to save me please!
To help me from my knees
Help me feel a cool summer breeze
To show my heart the meaning of ease.

So the story began
For days I ran
From words true in heart
The words that tore me apart

I knew not where
Or how to bear
But melancholy was there
You could tell by my stare

Help I yell
I'm going to hell
Help I scream
I'm stuck in a dream
Grant me ease
I beg you please
Soothe my sorrow
Before it kills me tomorrow
For miles I walked
As darkness only stalked
The words rang in my head
It only reassured me I was not dead
Drenched from rain pouring and pouring
As thunder was constantly roaring
And shaking the road beneath my feet
As I'm still choking on this defeat
I fall to my knees
Just begging for ease
Sitting before your door
I cry out for you once more
And if it wasn't for the pouring rain
My endless tears would show my pain

Then an old man stopped me
He told me "life isn't what it should be
We look one way
And the other the next day
We are all confused
And emotionally abused
Keep your calm
Don't follow your palm
Live your life
With out the knife
Someday you'll see
How great life can be
We all know there's nature
And there's a preacher
Nature has her way
And the preacher can only say
Nature can stop the preacher's reign
But the preacher can never stop the rain."
He said saddened "I'm a preacher
I'm nothing compared to nature"
His words went soft
As darkness went aloft
He preached to me once more
Before he showed me to the door
"Things happen, because they should,
You can change them only if you would."

I stopped and thought
Look what all this has brought
How hopeless I've become
I can't even drown it with rum
I've been drunk for days
And the past weeks have been a haze
I stood up sullen and broken
Nothing to stop what nature has spoken

As now the love leaves my fingers
No breath in me lingers
No tears of sadness
No screams of madness
Death makes his bet
When the sun has set
The meadow is then so quiet
As I am forever laying by it
A breeze moves past my face
Showing me freedoms sweet taste
Thank you for the summer breeze
I've finally found my ease
With the help of a tightened noose
Where no rope hang loose
At this bowing branch on a tree
I am forever and finally free
