Sonnet

by Jenna   Sep 3, 2007

Never has my heart been in such a state
As I find it now, so cold and mangled
Inside I weep when i dwell on this fate
Alas! My silent outcries are strangled
Not unlike the small undeserving weed
Reaching to the sun to absorb its light
I continue to reach for what I need
Despite knowledge that its a losing fight
A love thats impossible to acquire
Though for a time it was mine and now gone
It lingers within, an immortal fire
A love unreturned, still the flame burns on
Yet all the pain I'll never trade away
If also I lost our happier days
