Billy Rob

Ok, well firstly, this sounds a bit heavy.. it's not intended.. I just don't organise my thoughts unless I can make them rhyme.. lol.. Enjoy. xx

I wrote a poem to you, Rob.
It filled some, here, with mirth.
Did you realise it was a year
To the day I gave birth?

You've been a rock of strength to me.
Your jibes, your jokes, your care.
All your advice, I've taken well.
I let my soul feel bare.

And you have written of my pain,
As I have of yours, too.
You called us kindred spirits, once.
I'm not as brave as you,

For I could not let go, or take
The chance that he'd come back,
And so, with babe in arms, I cry
Rocking her where I'm sat.

If only I'd have listened then.
If I'd not believed him,
We'd laugh and joke of our near misses,
Taken it 'on the chin'.

Bizarre, though, that a year from when
I wrote it, to the day
Was when the proof that I was weak
Was born. If I could lay

All of my hopes and dreams in words,
Would you, your strength, still send?
If ever I've needed an ear,
It's now I need a friend..

Your heart has such compassion,
But you know where I have been.
You seek the solace just like I.
You know what I have seen.

I thank you for your words of wisdom.
Thank you for your ear.
But thank you most for words you write,
Though you've never been here.
