The Cross

by Chris Rodriguez   Sep 30, 2007

I walk the crowded streets to forget a name
I walked a thousand miles to keep myself sane
I drive my car so I can sing
And it's better if I can't remember anything
In this town where I carry the cross
So I can't get lost
I like to be with you when I can
You are someone I would like to understand

I like to go watch the sea
I like to pretend I am free
I sleep to feel awake
And it's the only sound I like to make
A graveyard without stones
Is a dream I don't share alone
Your eyes pierce straight through me
And I realize I'm not where I want to be

Inside I'm disconnected
Black and white reflected
I want to know who you are
And like nothing else
I need something more
I want to learn what my life is for

The days that I lost
The things that it cost
The people I knew then
Are all gone
And if you see me again I'll tell you something
It's better to regret something
Than do nothing
