Night Time

by Hades   Oct 2, 2007

Waking in the dead of night
a cold sweat down my neck,
My life's so complicated
Until just now, a wreck.

Darkness gathers in my dreams
preventing all my rest,
I sit up, panting, sweating, crying
Stones inside my chest.

So many times I've started,
From a dark and troubled sleep,
Alone inside an empty room
All I could do was weep.

Until she came, my shining star
To cast away my doubt,
She's given me a second chance,
Something to smile about.

A chance to fully live my life,
a chance for me to see
all that I had missed out on,
and all that's there for me.

It really makes me chuckle,
She won't hear a word I say,
She's sleeping now beside me,
and beside me she will stay.

I lay down on my pillow,
and rest my weary mind,
A silent tear falls down my cheek,
but not the woeful kind.

I let my mind drift back to sleep,
leaving my love where she's at.
Because she'll be there in the morning,
and every morning after that.

I absolutely love everything you write.
Your poems are the only thing keeping me coming back to this site.
And I must say, I'm pretty jealous of your sweet heart for having such a talented and caring guy by her side.
