***Back in the 70's .. a movie was made , adapted from Dalton Trumbo's novel
-Johnny Got His Gun-
... it was about a soldier who was hit by a mortar bomb ,leaving him a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth and nose.He lies strapped to a hospital bed in a fate worse than death..unable to distinguish if he's awake or asleep ..

Day after day,
slowly falls away
another part of me.
But still the same

I bleed and I bleed,
It threads and it threads.
In a labyrinth of darkness,
endlessly it spreads.

Everyone can see,
everyone does know.
Fallen yet undying,
here all alone.

Don't lay beside me
if you cant stay through my eternity
and here what my mind speaks
as my thoughts turn desultory.

A halo of darkness,
just above the bright ground
forfeiting every endeavor
i forever lie down.

If i had a voice , I'd Keep myself company
If i had legs , I'd run away
If i had arms , I'd kill myself
If i could know I'm asleep, I'd have dreams and be lost in their way.

So wring my breath
as i wish for death.
Someone wring my breath
'cause i wish for death.
