Twenty-three

by vanessarrr   Oct 8, 2007

It's morning; it's two.

i should get some sleep
but you--
you invade my mind.
look at the time.
you still keep me awake
for god's sake
i need to get up at nine.
i lied. half past nine.

(you lied!)

but i--
i will be fine.
i am (not) saying it just to rhyme.
well, i lied.
i miss your company.
hands.lips.body
touch/kiss/hold me.
baby, forget sanity.

it's three.
it's been three
lazy, buzy, crazy
long years and i'm rusty.
and poetry doesn't come as easily.
i write again,
even in this ugly blue pen,
just so you can hear me.
hear me lie.
(no, no, not i...)
you were untrue.
i'm still awake
for god's sake.
it was you--
you shouldnt've lied.
(no, no, not to me...)

'tis two twenty-three.
