Why did the Man Serve?

by Hannah   Nov 11, 2007

Why did the man serve?
He must have had a lot of nerve.
World War I was tough,
But he fought like a man and was rough.
He held his head up high,
And didn't care if he died.
He was a true veteran at heart,
In each and every part.
He didn't care if he won or lost.
It must be his life that cost,
Him to be a true man,
Who can do anything to be,
A winner in this mess,
As he put on his solider clothes to dress,
He knew that he was proud,
And right in with the crowd.
He was fighting for a good cause,
But the war had to pause,
It has dragged on way too long.
But it wasn't something wrong.
It was something to fight for what we believe in,
But we had just begun,
This horrendous battle called The Great War.
War is something with a lot of gore,
And a lot of lives lost, sorrow, and grief.
The war should end is the man's belief.
The war went on until his very end,
Even though it should descend.
A lot of lives were lost,
And men were out of exhaust,
But the man stayed strong,
And sung a little song.
"I will not give up one bit,
And will never call it quits.
We can do it hand and hand,
And conquer the other land."
But one day he got shot in his heart,
Which tore everyone apart.
Everyone cared about Fred,
It didn't matter what people said,
Because poor Fred is dead.
Everyone bowed down to pray,
Because they had so much to say.
Fred was a true soldier, who was nice,
He made a sacrifice for his life,
He knew what it meant to be a true veteran.
