Lay Down With Me

by selene   Nov 12, 2007

Lay down with me, and find warmth in my arms,
We have tonight; your firm hands stroke my charms.
I'll brush your cheeks gently, your lips touching mine,
Turn the lights down; it's for your soul that I pine.

I have known you for a short time, but I can tell,
That having you near, causes my heart to swell.
If you share this feeling, if you will give up this fight,
Lay down with me, for angel, we have tonight.

These masks we hide behind, these smiles and stares,
Conceal the love set before us, eluding us unawares.
I'm willing to throw mine down, if you'll do the same,
We can unmask each other, exposure without shame.

The silence we endure, might hinder what could be,
For how can I, without words, make real for you to see?
In these last few hours, in the darkness uncloaked,
Together, let us confess the precious secrets evoked.

A masquerade of hearts leads us apart from our love,
A pity, to not discover a passion we've been dreaming of.
Lay down with me, summon the courage for this chance,
Lay down with me, we have tonight to find romance.
