You are Poison

by Shatter   Nov 15, 2007

You are poison
Your tainted sweet lies
Your false compassion
It's all a disguise

The beast within
Hungers for innocent souls
It takes out the sickest of sins
So false love can takes its toll

We give you everything
Which you eagerly take
Without even thinking
Of the souls you are willing to break

We are left feeling confused
Feeling a loss of control
Feeling worthless and used
Left asking "So this is love taking its toll?"

Yet you move on with grace
As if we've never phased you
With us time is stuck in place
And wish we could move on too

You are the poison
The leech of our love
Who thinks it's nothing
Who doesn't give a damn about trust

You are the monster
You are the carrier of this disease
You are the heartless bastard
That somehow gets us on our knees

You leave us in a burning rage
Where only hurt and betrayal exist
And hate trapped in a steel cage
With the heart that's learned the hard way to resist

But one day we will have a turn
Just to teach you what it's like to lose your mind
To let you know how a soul can burn
Just to show how you can find
Your own poison
