Waiting For The Light

by Natalie84   Nov 24, 2007

I've been told
Everyone has a soul mate
Yet the possibility of none
Is never spoken of
The probability of dying a lonely maid
Is never discussed
Such notions are simply
Unwanted

Somewhere beyond my tears
Is there a faithful man
Awaiting my arrival
Across the mountains of heartache
Will there be a loving specimen
Praying for my survival

If there is a soul mate for me
Then what is this wasted time for
Was it vital for me to be struck
By the blade of deceit
As I struggle to defeat disappointment
Will there be more

Was it really imperative
That my heart be broken
Along this exhausting journey
I'm trying to find the logic
In waiting for a good thing
But haven't I waited long enough

I may have found this soul mate
He may have already stood before me
The man I speak of
May have fallen victim to the last man's crime
What if I took my anger out on him
And along with his love
Left my final chance

Somewhere past my sorrow
Will I find a love to clear these skies
At the finish of healing
Will I be greeted with purities eyes
Below the clouds of hopelessness
I eagerly await the light

*From a Sunny and Tim's title toss...Thanks guys!

    You're an awesome poet!
Another one excellent poem from you, so deep and superbly written. The first stanza pulled me in and you kept my attention with great descriptions and expressions of emotions through the whole piece. This poem is truly original and I can relate to it in a way.
    Excellently done!
    Keep writing!
