A Lover's Final Goodbye

by Marly   Dec 13, 2007

Tears stain his pale face
As he places the flowers by her feet
The orchids color so beautiful and bright
Lay on top of her body buried so deep

As he begins to say his last words to her
I see the sadness in his eye
"The only flaw when falling in love
Is knowing there will be a last goodbye...

To say goodbye to the one you would die for
The one who you woke for every day
Makes life seem like the wind has taken
A piece of your soul and blown it away

You feel like a wilted rose
Whose petals used to grow a radiant red
Like a story that should have been told
But it was forgotten instead

Because the reason you lived was to love them
To see their smile or hold them in your arms
To protect them from whatever was out there
But we can not avoid all of lifes harms...

So I tell you today as I say goodbye
To the person I gave my heart too
That love is the most precious gift
That can ever be given to you

Hold it as though it is a delicate rose
And cherish it every single day
For one day you will say goodbye to love
As it is my time to say it today"

He closed his eyes and whispered "I miss you"
As he remembered the face of his past love
Today he walked away only half a man
As his other half was looking down from above

The wind was cold on that day
That day where I saw the man in black cry
And I myself felt a sadness knowing
That there will always be a final goodbye.
