My shadow friend

I am lost in the darkness,
But I am not alone,
The shadows, they call to me,
And wonder about my home.

They follow me from room to room,
And speak things in my ear,
They tell me all of the things,
I never want to hear.

Their bodies are voided black,
And flicker with their form,
And when one passes through you,
You feel anything but warm.

Sometimes I just want you to go,
And maybe this will end,
But how can I say that,
When you are my only friend?
