And So Soon I Would Not Forget; You

by Cooper   Dec 31, 2007

And this tragedy starts
with a shattered glass heart,
beneath the midnight moon of lovers' berceuse.

I kissed pestiferous lips,
(bedsheets spread across my chest)
and plucked roses attuned to symmetry,
from gardens I shed my blood upon;
taste my revilement.

I saw the verity;
a God-lent grace listed under vanity,
and falling from her skin
like the oblivious stars in ventriloquist skies,
puppets of me whisper (and convince)
how lovesick I am for her.

And of course,
hung from a harrowing stairway of lethal departure,
would her exquisite corpse
(dressed in three styles of swan feathers)
burn on the morrow with me.

I stepped across the melting ice,
where the serpents forming the roots of dead trees
cried,
sighed;
but I let them writhe,
(eyes set on risque-eyed bride)
falling in the current of a moon glazed over ...
.... by amytal inflicted tears.

Distant in the mist,
I hear them still cry,
but upon the delicate stone -
- hearts that forget my name;
she bears eternity within her ageless hands.

    Wow...
    I'm speechless...
    This is breathtaking and absolutely amazing, flawless and excellently written from the beginning to the end. Whole piece is endlessly original, filled with unique metaphors that truly impressed me and powerful decsriptions, untypical for classic love poetry (and that is one of the main reasons I admire your poems- I always end up impressed and speechless).
    I can't express how much I like this.
    Every stanza leaves superb, vivid images carved in mind.
    Excellently done!
