Standing and looking

by Sarah   Feb 5, 2008

There I am standing and looking at that man
Who I hardly know now
It's like he's someone else
His face is pale and skinny
His colorful eyes lost there shine
While his body looks so weak, faint, and fragile
It's like someone took life out of him
Guiltiness and shame fill his heart and injured soul
He has caused a lot of pain and disappointment to many
Many of the people who cared and loved him the most
Looking back on the old days
They were the best
Happiness and joy were in the air
Everything was right and bright
Just as it should be
Then in the middle of it all, something went wrong
All that was taken a way
In front of him and because of him
All the promises he had broken
All the tears he had caused
It was all too much for him to bear
He did not want to set off any more pain
So he ran away
To the darkness and solitary that he deserves
And now here I am standing and looking at the reflection of that man

This is a very sad poem. I really enjoyed the read. I like the way you have written this.

    So he ran away
To the darkness and solitary that he deserves
And now here I am standing and looking at the reflection of that man

While reading you don't know it is a self reflection. Love the ending.
    great job!
