MaryAnne, I am sorry for whatever has happened. I have noticed that you keep on posting poems in the 'lost relationship' section, and I just thought that I would say something. I don't know if that is normal for you or not, but you seem to be having a hard time with something. If you aren't I am sorry for offending you...just thought I would reach out and try to comfort in some way, even though you probably don't know me.

    Oh my word!

This is amazing! That very first line with the exclamation mark is so aggressive, it really does stand out, emphasising just how much these thoughts are disturbing you.

I also like how you then ask a question, it really makes you think. The innocent can often seem the least likely to cause you harm, but you are right in saying that they can often cause the most harm.

The powerful message in this poem is the desperate need to release yourself from the pain, from the thoughts in your mind that hurt too much to cope with, and so you try to write for as long as you can to release as much as you can, trying to convince yourself that the pain will go away with the ink. I also like how you refer to the past act of self harm, to escape the demons that haunt you. It shows that you try desperately not to return to this, even though you know how much it will set you free in your mind.

I really like your title, it appeals to me because sometimes for people who have been hurt a lot, the kindness of others is too much to take, and makes you put your defences up.

I could say a lot about this poem.

But I will shut up now.
