Obviously, I have no idea if this piece is literal or not but either way it is heart breaking and if it is literal, you have my sincerest sympathy.
I like the way you talk of the person in question being needed home by God but that you need them home with you - I found that particularly sad to read. That's always the conundrum, isn't it? It's comforting that they may be going 'home' to heaven but what about their place on Earth and the people there that are left behind?
The ending is comforting too - being greeted at the gate and it finally being well again.

Great write and one that moved me.
