My letter from this cage called home

by Marie   Dec 6, 2008

Dear Curious readers,

Hello My name is Marie
For in my home i cant roam free
Screaming, accusing, and anger is all i see
These chains are not letting go of me

Someone help me, I'm in despair
But help in here is very rare
crying and defending is all i do
I wish my prayers would come true

There is one main creature
Who feeds on my depression
he has two wicked features
His foolish ignorance and aggression

Lacking Respect this creature Lingers
Expecting respect back
I feel worms in my fingers
And wish to switch these tracks

But i have realized I'm locked in here
i have to swallow my dignity and fear
i will for a long time be a victim of there flaws
standing still while i bleed from there claws

Sincerely,
Prisoner Marie

Wow, that was a very good write.
It's a poem, a letter and you're able to write all this staying in this 'personas' character, being a prisoner. I imagine almost a Rapunzel kind of scene, and a crude and cruel father.
    Wonderfully written.

However there were some cliches that were evident here that made the poem a little more predictable than I would have liked. Like in these places:
"Screaming, accusing, and anger is all i see
These chains are not letting go of me

Someone help me, I'm in despair
But help in here is very rare"

But at the same time, I loved this stanza:
    "There is one main creature
    Who feeds on my depression
    he has two wicked features
    His foolish ignorance and aggression"

Keep on writing. Hope to read more from you soon~ ;)
