Waiting to be Forgiven

by John Peterson

In between is where it is
lost but not forgotten
Held there by the memory
Memory of what was

Hold it dear,tight
For it may return
Whispering hope
Lonely dreams

But if not for that moment
Then when,how long
Only one knows for sure
Patience and understanding

The poet weeps
The heart cries
And the feeling is still there
Waiting to be reborn anew

Only time can tell
What is to be
Regrets of the past
They haunt the present

Still hoping,waiting
Mending the broken fence
Healing a wounded soul
And waiting for a new beginning
