by Kaila
He use to make me laugh so hard.
I would hold him when I'd cry.
He use to sing my country tunes,
and especially sweet lullabies.
I did not realize he was gone,
until that alarming night.
He left so quick right out of here,
not even one last sight.
So as I sit, a grown-up girl
without my daddy near.
I sit and wonder what he'd say
if he were really here.
"Well Kaila that boy in English class
he ain't to good for you.
Do I have to get my rifle,
and tell him what to do?"
"Now what's with that dress?
Ain't it ridin' a little short?
Let me tell you that story
when we used to build those forts."
"Get off that stupid cell phone,
and talk to me face to face.
You know when you smile,
it lights up this whole place."
Well your not here to say this.
So I'll just lye here and cry,
and except the dreadful truth;
on that forlorn night you died.
I still think about your smile,
and how you'd hold me on one knee;
but don't worry dad I'll always know
how much you did love me.
