My Grandparents

by Jess   Aug 4, 2013

To my Grandparents,
Wherever you are
Whoever you are
Seems like this is the end.
It's time for me to move on,
To forget all the knives
That were stabbed in my back.
The I Love Yous
That were lost in time
Who are you
To make me sad?
I'm stronger now,
So thank you.
You made me realize
That all family is not family.
Family is something special,
Something that I will not confuse,
With your selfish attitudes.
I'm not going to pretend anymore,
That I don't know what you say.
I'm not a child,
I grew up into a woman
A woman who knows who to trust.
I've learned that yall
Are not my grandparents.
If you think thirty dollars
In a birthday card
Will make me love you,
Then you are Wrong.
I've been battling this for a while,
And sometimes I might regret it
But in my heart I know
I made the right choices.
So to my Grandparents,
I no longer consider you my grandparents.
Thank you for everything,
I have now became the woman
You said I'd never be.
