Rest on me

by Donna B   Apr 4, 2014

This is about learning from a destructive relationship and finding yourself better off.

How does all the pain
Stop burning inside?
How all the hurts haunt your memories
Never stepping aside

How do we find salvage from what is left?

Let it all go
Let the feelings die
Time to reflect on the good
Leave the bad hurts behind

But how do I carry on?

Find refuge in what is left
Try not to dwell on what was
Try to focus on what is
Because

What was once right
Is no longer more
A shield I now use to fight
My heart from shattering bright

How does it end?

Time heals all wounds
That can mend a bleeding heart
Flowing from all the hate and lies

Time puts a stop
To all the hurt and pain
Time takes away the crime
That tore you apart
Was it all in vain?

Surely there was something
Something good, something right
Yes, I can honestly say there was
I now have a future bright
Without the hate by my side

I am glad you are gone
You were so wrong and so weak
Scattering in the wind is your words
As they no longer rest on me
