Sambo

by Michael D Nalley   May 17, 2014

To the outlaw I never knew
many are saying the red white & blue,
and four bullets put an end to you
but the true story known only to a few
in a field partying by the Ohio river
what happened next makes me shiver
seems you couldn't make up your mind
did a blinding light make you blind?
no one says you were anything but kind
you'd have made someone a good wife
before the deputy took away your life
one moves you forward the other, reverse
making decisions can be such an awful curse.

It certainly tells a potent tale on a steady rhyme. It feels folksy and downtrodden, like an american beat poem.

I love the story and also they way it flowed not to mention the rhyme scheme is beautiful my favorite part of this lovely poem would have to be

you'd have made someone a good wife
before the deputy took away your life

That part struck a cord in my soul for many can relate to this part for many lives have been ended by corrupt police men innocent or not the victim great work here was a very good read 5/5
