Wave

by silvershoes   Jun 6, 2014

You, a multifarious wave
crashing into a pocketed shore,
boulders and dunes.
Me? A monolith until you arrived.

Centuries of returns, that was you,
and reliable - is there any other word for me?
Never anything but,
so we both believed.
Who knew those years of you, you kissing
my hard exterior with genteel lips,
who knew erosion would get the better of us?

And now.
Now I am nothing.
A grain of sand in seven quintillion.
You, the same wave crashing in.

What majestic imagery! So deep and soulful, there's a darkness,a mystery in your work that draws a reader in, keep doing what you're doing it's awesome

I know that this poem is sad amd really quite heartbreaking but you wrote so eloquently that it feels like this part of life, this experience is so natural that you almost just shrug it off even without saying that. I really enjoyed the imagery here and how you made something painful seem so beautiful despite that pain or destruction. Much like the tower in a deck of tarot cards (symbolism not meaning to imply that way of life or belief).

This piece is beyond phenomenal. Thank you for putting us in your shoes and writing something so universal in such a personal wayn

I really love it when you use The Sea and or Ocean as a metaphor in your writing..

It's a powerful emotion when someone comes crashing into our lives, so the use of "Wave" is very powerful... I really admire the word erosion as well to describe the sorrow you are feeling with this person or the endless comings and goings perhaps.

I am not going to pick this poem apart too much because I feel that certain poems are just to deep for the reader to even go there, so I am finished. I just got to say I was truly taken by this piece and can relate.

    Beautiful write by you Jane~
