Saint/Sinner

by Lixus   Jun 16, 2014

He lied there,

And with all that he was
He tried to move
But his muscles ached
And his body was heavy.

So he tried to breathe,

To gather his strength
And find the will
To overcome
But all he could muster was survival

That's all his battered body could withstand
Not collapsing in on itself
Simply sustaining the struggle another moment
Hanging on by chance
So with heavy eyes
He began to imagine himself moving
Seeing himself slowly getting up
Inch by inch
Closer
And closer
Focusing on nothing else but the clouds
"Someway, somehow"
Until finally
He could no longer even think himself off the ground
Knocked down
In body and mind
He tried
But believed no more

Wanting nothing else in the world
He lied there

I can't determine the meaning of the title very well. It seems like a representative story. I find it very well done though

I guess it really wouldn't make sense to anyone but me. When I was younger my mom used to sing this hymn.

We fall down, and we get up
We fall down, and we get up
Because a saint is just a sinner who falls down
      And gets up
