The Nightingale

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 17, 2014

It is a rare heart that appreciates
the compromises others make
to meet our needs while avoiding
their own hidden agenda.

Sometimes at three in the morning
a husband's promises are edited
when he cannot remember
which direction is home
yet there she is, waiting for him
patiently beside the bed, worried.

Baby Rainbow challenge, prompts:
Rare heart
hidden agenda
which direction is home
the husband's promise
