After You Die

by Jack Nightengale   Jul 20, 2014

Heard a song just the other day,
It asked a question that startled my brain,
I had to ask who would simply think that way,
Then I stared to ache and couldn't get rid of the pain.

The more I listened, the more I understood,
Everything we've ever been told, our whole life is just a giant lie,
I thought the question was distasteful but, I was actually good,
Do you ever think what life would be, where you will go, after you die?

I love the questions throughout this poem. It is really thought-provoking and I love the rhyme throughout the poem as well because it gives it a smooth flow.

The questioning in the beginning is something I do quite often. I listen to music and wonder where the inspiration came from and what brought that person to that moment and how it made them feel. It's often when I'm tired that I find my mind to be the most curious.

    Anyway, nice write.
