The Moment

by SpartanOdyssee   Jul 24, 2014

The moment,
when loneliness takes over the heart.
An overpowering sensation of darkness,
leaving it scarred.

Moments of hope, joy, and love,
Harshly felt.
Which beforehand were cards,
Occasionally dealt.

It feels neverending,
This tempest of emotional pain.
Knowing that all we had,
Is lost, and there is nothing more to gain.

All that is left,
And which will remain.
Are outmost pure, and lovely memories,
constricted with this enormous pain.

Yet I keep reminding myself,
that on a certain day,
The shadow that lingers.
Will go its separate way.

Unfortunately that day,
Has yet to arrive.
So for now carrying this pain,
will undoubtedly become part of my life.

I didn't mean for us,
To end up this way.
All I wanted was to love you,
Years, Months, Weeks, Day by Day.

So I apologize,
For all I did wrong.
I didn't mean to hurt you,
Didn't mean to cause you harm.

All I ever intended,
To be yours forever.
Knowing now,
That our story has ended.

Truly sad the one part I truly and I mean truly loved was the part about love& joy being a card game I think you referred to poker? I don't really know that many card games because I'm still 20 and I hate card games but I really love the poem and hope this poem helps you vent and heal :) 5/5
