Flying mirrors

by Darren   Aug 13, 2014

Winged mirrors carry my thoughts aimlessly
glistening crystals of sky reflecting my sombre being
doubts enter through my mind like rats carry disease
eating away at my inner most desires and vomiting
selfishly masturbating my woes publicly

Leaving a mark on life is devouring my existence
what is my purpose, am I wasting a soul given to me
what is my place, my destination on this globe of hypocrisy?
lying flat out, grass encroaching my ears I sigh ponderously
looking hungrily amongst the clouds for a sign

A child lay down beside me smiling
she turns, face beaming radiance and hope
in her eyes I see a respect and love I miss daily myself
when I look at the image of my selfish soul, hoping, crying
"what are you doing Dad, watching clouds?"

My destination is certain, my mark is made
I have discovered my purpose,
my daughter the greatest teacher

Wow. Getting lost in thoughts can be good or bad. I love the two stories there seem to be here. The first half you seem to be lost in thoughts about why?. Why are you here in this world. "Am I" part of everyday life just like the people around me, struggling and lying to myself. I think we always look for a sign at one point or another but I love how you jumped from the negative side and this girl brought you back to reality. It seems like in your eyes your daught er is an angel so to speak. I liked how you looked at the sky and whom you think is a sign came out. Clever! You had an aha moment. It's in that moment you needed to stay alive for her. We all have that one person we need and you need her. Excellent!
