Loss-A Sonnet

by WritingtheStars   Sep 5, 2014

What pain loss can be- it's an open cut,
But not painful until the wound is poked.
A single time is enough to evoke
Memory of the forgotten pain but
Now hurting and remembering the rut
I settled in after my heart was broke.
It was a long time until I awoke
From that depressive state where I plummet.
The loss- it still stings when the thought
Of him arises. The pain still cuts like
A knife, but slowly I grow numb to it.
The pain of loss still feels like I've been shot,
But every pain subsides and this strike
Against my heart will eventually just quit.

^ something is missing here, maybe A memory or memories? It just doesn't flow quite right and it makes the reader stumble a little.

Other than that, this is a wonderful sonnet. Great job, very well described emotions and beautifully penned thoughts.
