Promising

by Armada the Gestalt   Oct 1, 2014

Bare your teeth and throw the heart away
Little sounds making like drops, you plummeted
Nourish and fulfil with wasting,
Bare your teeth, throw the fretful thing away.

Gentleman made of glass, fragile and prickling
Curled up in spine, overwhelmed you
precious thing, with ribs outstretched
Like a medusa's limb.

Languid coil and greasy
Sulkily waiting with a mouth that cannot shut
You with the gills, sea-thing-you
Seething you
Waiting, a rock-thing, waiting.

Wrap around scalekin, you are promising
The roots of your plotting and demise are
devouring
holdfasts and steadfast, unbreakable waves
unstoppable force, tidal

Bare your teeth, throw the heart away.
Plunging beats like ecstasy - away!
Gone are the biceps, the painful veins.
Away with the fairies and the lions both.
Gone, chanting and song - away from you.
Now the sun is seeping out,
a bloodied eyeball.

Throw that hateful thing away.

(My attempt at an interpretation on this, I apologize if I'm wrong!) But I think that this painted quite a horrid and sad scene of such a poor pitiful being. Somehow it seems to me that it's body has been lamed? Or I get the idea that somehow this form has expired for him so instead of being trapped inside of it, left in pain, death is actually a blessing, something kind to release him, and merciful. Again, that's my interpretation on it! I had to read it a couple of times, I think you captured the sympathy of any reader very well.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Interpretation is what poetry's all about. One's as good as another. I'm glad I managed to give you an image like that!
