Reality's Kiss

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 1, 2014

A gentle kiss
escapes a blooming rose
through a fragrance
that dances with my nose.

The winter sun beating
hard against our rosy cheeks,
as we slow dance with forever
to the tune of love.

My eyes blink me
back to reality
in the midst of
this daydream.

Without his feet there
to take the lead,
my footsteps will
only be dancing through
the puddles of my
wishful tears.

Agreed, this one has stunning imagery that plays well within the poem well. The double view point leaves the reader feeling what you feel. The first two stanzas hold a beautiful setting that is happiness, pure and true. The Rose most people consider the most romantic flower so that plays well into the scene you created, you are dancing, and the winter time sun is beating down on you. Then all of a sudden you blink away from the daydream of the past and back to the reality that your live is gone, you have the memories but not the physical thing. The ending wording is beautiful and yet sad. You are crying because you feel the grief of loss. Great write

Great imagery in this, Saff! Really like it!

Love the interplay with words and senses and the picture it creates in verse one and I just adore the idea of 'slow dancing with forever' in verse two!

Both highly evocative and beautiful images!

    Love the whole poem!
