Hiding Memories

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 1, 2014

I may appear silent to you,
like my voice ran away with the wind,
but I am holding onto broken pieces
of memories inside, which might make
my mask collapse if they slipped through
my voice.

Afraid to remember his lips, his kiss,
his wonderful understanding towards me.
Afraid to say goodbye to a love
which had nothing to show but secrecy.

I may appear shut down,
showing signs of a struggle
in connecting to speech,
but I am merely hiding
behind the silence of my mask,
beneath the cover of myself...

...the safest place for memories to hide.

Grief is expressed in all different kind of ways. Silence seems to be the main thing to show grief on the outside. Feelings are always safest inside the wall you build because it cannot let people inside and in that we do not get hurt, but we also isolate and push people way. So while it might seem safe, in reality it's dangerous. In isolation we are afraid to forget but we do and in time we lose the memory of the one we loved. Great sad write.
