Rum & Coke Pt. I

by ExoSin   Nov 5, 2014

-
He arrived home in the morning
'fore the sun could rise.
He felt caustic inside,
With a head full of flies.
-
His ideas; they buzzed;
and they scattered around.
Like a plague in his head,
That he couldn't write down.
-
He mixed himself a drink,
To moisten his lips.
To calm down and think,
This poison is bliss.
-
The rum numbs his tongue,
but the Coke woke him up.
From a darkening world -
To one inside of his cup.
-
Or inside of his head..?
He can't think right now.
He takes another sip,
and furrows his brow.
-
Then he opens his eyes,
and thumbs at the straw.
He lets out a loud sigh,
regarding the things that he saw.
-
He finishes his drink,
And then makes another.
Stronger this time,
Now clearer in color.
-
He feels the clearer his drink,
the clearer his head.
They mirror each other...

Clarity sits just ahead.
