Photograph Pain

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 12, 2014

I stumbled across a photograph
that made me stop and think,
remembering captured moments
and the emotions that they bring.

Tears sting the back of my eyes
as distant memories blur my vision.
The sound of your voice echoes
inside my aching heart,
longing for your warm embrace
to envelope my entire soul.

This faded photograph
now takes your place in my life,
but it never holds me
the way you used to,
and a piece of glossy paper
can never love me
like you do.

I love the final stanza of this. It is wonderfully penned and it leaves the kind of impact that makes you think. It makes you stop and say that is so true and then your mind goes to all those times a simple piece of a memory could make or break your day even without the person even existing in your world anymore. I'm sorry if I went off on a tangent here, it's just that this piece really hit home for me today.
