Licorice and Cyanide- Thoughts

by Maple Tree   Dec 19, 2014

Lady
had
a
devil
on
her
back.

Doing time in the womb
of gutter romances,
licorice laced with cyanide,
always looking for the one.

The Demon hissed a mist
of candy coated nothings
causing her to forget the
the midnight air of a stale
cigarette and a gritty
old rock melody.

It was something of a nuisance-

lipstick red painted memoirs
behind back alley jam sessions,
she loved music, adored love
and laughter, she always laughed,
but the....

Lady
had
a
devil
on
her
back.

Takes more than a smoke
and old tunes to shake
him loose....
