What I Know

I know there are people
who will laugh about these lines
so pitiful, desperate
cries for attention, just whines

I know there are people
feeling much worse
shelterless, foodless,
raped and sickness cursed

I know there are people
that have never lived
never been made, never been born
gone too soon to appreciate this gift

But what I also know
quite for a while
life is worth nothing
when youre alone and not able to smile
