Suffering is Sacred

Suffering is sacred
to the ones that
live and breathe
like fireworks,

rapidly flying forward
and ending in a climax
that lights up the night
just for a moment

To suffer is to live,
for all of us that
are filled with dread
whenever we feel

the increasing distance
between love and us,
washed over by despair
as we ache in abandon

Suffering is serene
to those of us that
have lost our ability
to have pleasant dreams;

Pain is salvation,
divine providence
that allows us to see
past our emptiness

Suffering is sacred
because it is the only way
for broken people like us
to even live or breathe

I freakin love the title and ending stanza...
this poem really makes me think off feeling numb
and how you could do more damage that way
rather than feeling pain. this flows nicely in my head
and it's filled with so much despair emotions
but somehow gives a hopeful vibe

    nick work.. keep writing

I've read this poem twice now, and it has something that just keeps me caught... I really cannot tell you what it is that I love about this poem cause truthfully even I don't know. All I just know is that I love this poem and it is written beautifully.

I love your choice of words. I especially love your description of fireworks. The way you have described it is wonderful. Just love this:

    'rapidly flying forward
    and ending in a climax
    that lights up the night
    just for a moment'

    Its beautiful. Really beautiful.
    Keep writing :-)
