Phantom Wings

She descended like an angel,
gracefully falling from the building.
Feathers decorated with scarlet jewels
fell from the wounds on her back
as she painfully failed to spread
her phantom wings.

Only after witnessing
the mesmerizing beauty
of her great release
did the people around her
take off their blindfolds,

and acknowledge
her existence.
