Mirrors

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 20, 2015

I found a mirror,
another mirror,
too many mirrors!

Each one reflecting the shadows
of my heart's personal tragedy.

Out of the shadows
come hidden secrets
that leave me crumbling inside.

And behind the glass,
tears start to shed
for the innocent life
I should have led.

    This drags heavy on the heart of the reader. Though it's on the shorter side, It still has a lot of impact - and this;

    And behind the glass,
    tears start to shed
    for the innocent life
    I should have led.

My favorite line. An incredible and awfully sad finish

This is a symbolic Irony here. when you feel depressed mirrors are one of your mortal enemies. I love how you started this piece out, it gives a heart racing feeling to the reader like where is this heading and is the character going to be okay? Then you fall into the reason why and that is the best way to do it, though you could have left the readers mind guessing as to why, because poetry can be vague. :). Mirrors are reflections of how you truly feel inside and the person behind the mirror knows about all the pain you feel. The ending works well because it expresses the emotions you were trying to pursue inside the poem and you did an excellent job in flowing with the story and not straying from it at all. 5/5
