Everything

by Once an Angel   Feb 1, 2015

You pleaded me for everything:
my love, my time, my trust,
my comfort, my wisdom,
my snuggles, my hugs,
my ears to hear,
my mouth to sooth,
myself, always for you.
And with my whole heart,
I gave you all I had -
Everything.

And now you go,
towing away
Everything.

Was it a mistake?
Was it my failure?
Were you testing me,
and my everything
was too low of score
for what you thought
I should be?
Never enough -
Is that what
you finally saw in me?

You offered your brand of love,
colored rainbow dreams
of mountains and lakes,
with the nature's songs
of birds and streams.
A cabin of a tree house,
with little children to please.
A wife, a mother,
what we could be.
A family for me to protect,
a freedom
to finally be me.

You gave a promise of death,
from the lips of the dying.
And as I sat there
waiting on the other side,
you came to find,
that I could be left,
behind.

Now you are gone,
and I have lost
Everything.
