Dreadful

by Maple Tree   Mar 17, 2015

I was raised within an old school,
never made to feel like a fool.
respect given, granted in return,
walking away at any concern.

Hell is my job, that's all I can say,
its where demons love to play.
testing my patience, knowledge and skill,
it's a childhood game, all for a cheap thrill.

They see me wither within walls of chipped paint,
spewing rumors, casting judgement, pretending to be saints.
I see the eyes of angels suffering,
while lizards chain my intentions with false muttering.

Enough is enough, I have to walk away,
my sanity is dying, every single day....

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." -- Friedrich Nietzsche
Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you cannot help those you are in charge of, where the very ones who are supposed to succor them from pain and anguish in reality do not care, and they penalize you for caring. That's where you fight monsters, the real ones, in human form. That's where you find the abyss. Do not gaze so long at it that it possesses your very being.
