Fool

by TheMask   Apr 1, 2015

I'm no prince in shining armor
I'm a fool who can't see past his own bliss
To see the girl I have sworn to protect fade away
Falling into the abyss I came out of

I wished to stop her, stop her from falling
But when I was stopping her. I fell for her
Not realizing what was going on around me anymore
The bliss of love is both fantastic and terrible

Not seeing past the clouds of love I couldn't see her slowly falling
Falling ever so gently from the grasp of my gentle hands
Falling to where I can no longer catch her
Unless I fall even further so I can

Maybe.. If I no longer have this blissful fog around me
I can see what is happening in front of me
Of the one person I wanted to protect
But I no longer want to let go

I guess I must keep the promise I made to myself
To not let her go the route I went
No longer a small slit of the wrist
No longer letting her starve herself
No longer letting her anguish over love and guilt

I will end this tonight I won't let her fall
I will take the fall I will clear away the darkness of these clouds
I will keep at least this promise
I will do one knightly thing for her
I will, take all the sadness, fear, pain, and me away

Farewell my love
I'll look up to you
from down here
from now on
